Rahma Ali Ibrahim, a farmer in Aswan, has faced numerous challenges managing her 5-acre farm. Initially struggling with low soil fertility and unpredictable crop yields, she found it difficult to achieve financial stability and maintain her family’s well-being. Two years ago, she discovered the EBDA capacity building program, which offered training in biodynamic agriculture practices, carbon credit certification, bio-fertilizers, biocontrol, and advanced crop production techniques. Welcoming the help and support, Rahma enrolled in the program, hoping to gain the skills needed to revitalize her farm.
By January 2024, Rahma’s dedication had borne fruit. She produced 61.9 tonnes of compost, significantly enhancing her soil’s fertility and boosting her crop yields. The financial incentives from the carbon credits program not only improved her farm’s productivity but also provided much-needed financial stability.
With her newfound knowledge and the support from EBDA, Rahma transformed her farm into a sustainable and profitable venture, greatly enhancing her family’s well-being and health. Rahma’s story is a testament to the transformative power of education and sustainable farming practices in overcoming adversity.
