In Kafr El Sheikh, Abdel Aziz Younis continues a long family tradition of growing Egypt’s renowned long-staple cotton. But since 2012, he has taken that legacy in a new direction—turning to biodynamic farming with the Economy of Love initiative.
“We are doing very well,” he says of his thriving fields, where he now cultivates cotton, caraway, and biodynamic rice. The transition away from chemicals has brought not only healthier crops, but also a noticeable difference in his own well-being: “We feel well.”
Through ongoing training and technical support, Abdel Aziz has learned new practices that strengthen both his soil and his harvest. He regularly attends meetings with agricultural committees in nearby villages, where he exchanges knowledge on composting, natural pest control, and regenerative methods.
He speaks proudly about the end result of his cotton: “The shirts are comfy and safe to wear, at a reasonable price.”
Abdel Aziz’s journey reflects a deep respect for tradition—combined with a willingness to embrace new methods that protect the land, support health, and ensure a viable future for farmers like him.
